JOSEPH⁴ SAUNDERS was born in 1713 at Farnham Royal, County of Bucks, Great Britain. A devout Quaker, Joseph was the son of Joseph Saunders Sr and his wife Susannah Child of Farnham Royal, Bucks, England. In 1733 he migrated to Philadelphia where he became a reputable merchant and respected member of the Quaker community. In 1741 Joseph married Hannah Reeve. From this union were born eleven children. He died in 1792 in Philadelphia aged 79.
